Feeling confident in front of the camera with budget teleprompters
I will go ahead and say that I am probably the most introvert person I know! I son’t remember my last result but I’d say I “dance around” between INFP or INTP on the Myers & Briggs personality type. At the same time I enjoy being out of my comfort zone at times so I’ve been looking at ways to help me appear more comfortable, especially in video content.
In any profession, adding video as a way to communicate with your audience is a key tool so for people like me who don’t naturally come across as a pro in front of the camera, I found this simple, yet very effective way of removing the awkwardness of producing video content. This won’t remove the core necessity of knowing what you are talking about - I can’t promise that - but it will help in becoming more efficient, more “direct to the point” and ultimately, more professional. What I am talking about is a portable teleprompter.
I am not talking about the stuff we see the US presidents use all the time, but rather something A LOT smaller. Something you can use with your camera or even just with your smartphone. In the two videos below you will see I cover both options, a physical portable teleprompter as well as a iOS app to start with a close to free investment in producing video content.
In the video below, I go over 3 things:
A review of the best teleprompter out there for videomakers;
THREE Bonus tips for talking to the camera
And an extra bonus teleprompter app review that turns your phone into a teleprompter.
And in this video, I cover an iOS app that I used before I invested in the teleprompter. Certainly worth a try and great (FREE) way to test the waters a little bit before using a teleprompter.
Video engages, there is no question about that, but there is nothing worse than watching a video where you can’t connect with the presenter. And that is usually because there is no “eye contact”. With this tool, you are looking directly into the lenses or directly into the smartphone camera which means the viewer will feel more connected straight away.
As well as providing tips on how to use a teleprompter, I go over the top tips that helped me in creating video content that I hope will help you as well, so I hope you enjoy this video and let me know in the comments here or on YouTube what helps you be more confident in front of the camera.
